It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.

Hmm.. another reason I think that man was a good president.

I was thinking that maybe the main difference between the two is that the first is pretty much honest and straightforward in regard to its motivations and intentions.

I have no disrespect for Reagan. He was actually a really sharp guy. I just never can think about him without thinking of the old Spittin’ Image video done to “Land of Confusion.” Still pretty funny after twenty years or so:

  3. Okay, Reagan was a sharp guy and all, and he did really have some nice sound bites about liberty, freedom, capitalism, and all that jazz. But what did he do? He presided over a huge growth of government, massive deficits, a huge increase gap between the rich and the middle class, sold weapons to such places as Iran and Afghanistan (which you know, is kind of a problem these days…), and gave us some wonderfully backwards and flawed things like the war on drugs. Reagan was good with the rhetoric, no doubt, but ultimately quite the ideologue.

    totally agree.
but the video *is* funny, no? 🙂
